Artist Bio

G. Edwin Taylor was born at a very early age and began his life in 1973 and has lived in Chicago ever since. A self taught artist, he paints mainly in acrylic, and has been called a visual master of the Weird. He is influenced heavily by H.P. Lovecraft and the original Lovecraft circle and pulp fiction in general, including the pulp artists such as Virgil Finlay, Margaret Brundage and Rafael DeSoto.

He had a brief stint in the comic book industry back in 1997 where his work was hailed by COMBO magazine as "...The most original we have seen in over a decade."

Professional credits include storyboard artist on several independent films and numerous commissions of his captivating art in private collections internationally. He signed on with Revolt Amplifications as their company artist where he designs the logos for their line of guitar amps. Other endeavors include providing illustrations for Little Shoppe Of Horrors magazine, NexGen Pulp Magazine and FutureFire Magazine and cover art for The Ghost magazine.


Artist Statement

I paint the thrilling. I create that shiver down your spine, the goosebumps on your flesh, and that deep seated seduction that makes you want more. With each image, I elicit the feeling of sharp excitement from those that view them, and I want more than anything to make you feel alive with a sense of wonder.

The subjects that I choose are the ones that pique my imagination. They resonate deep within my soul as I capture what motivates me most. I indulge myself and create the vivid imagery that you see depicted on the canvases I share. Things that may be considered horrible and fantastic have always held a large part of my heart and have fascinated me since I was a child. I take those images and add a sense of realism which makes you feel compelled to freeze your gaze.

The current images I hold dear have stemmed forth from my love of horror, fantasy, and pulp fiction. With every new painting I strive to create a stronger sense of form which manifests itself in a truer image depicted from something that was originally only imaginary.
